Robots – 1, Organics – 0
The Machine. A testament to engineering and ingenuity. Artificial life taken to the next form! Whatever the case may be, these constructs are forged from a truly advanced form of artifice. Many are made through a high technology not unlike many forms of magic. Some are even crafted through rare forms of magical infusion. These constructs are far more capable of thought that many predecessors. Beyond their elaborate programming, some prove more than capable of having souls. Such constructs truly achieve the joys of sentience.
Author’s Note: ROBOTS! I made a post many moons back, that I have since wanted to remake. Plus, here are a few more ideas I’ve tossed around for general science-fantasy robot fun! Plus, I decided to tie the Pathfinder settings(s) into Planescape/Spelljammer… for some reason. Since my schedule is limited this week from preparation for and volunteering for a fair, things are broken up into chunks. Expect more soon!
Welcome. Please, step into the elevator chamber at the end of the hallway.
Alza’um, the true city beneath the smoke and mirrors. Life is far more controlled than in the port city of mysteries and merchants. However, that doesn’t make life any easier. Only the lucky and the blessed get their way in, without tricky maneuvering. Stowaways and thieves don’t make out too well. For those who make it? It’s a long way down the ladder and back up. Life in the city is a climb towards excellence. Of course, too many refuse to let others into their station.
In the beginning, a large caravan of outcasts, tinkerers, mages and artificers came together with a common goal. They wished to craft and hone their abilities in peace, trading and sharing knowledge within their enclave. For a while, it was a place of common ground and unity. Racial differences of these sages and inventors mattered little, but rather their devotion to their creations and the quality of their work. An ideal lead to a city, which fled underground after conflict with the outside world. This racial harmony ideal lasted… until the denizens of the darkness below found themselves in inevitable conflict with the city dwellers.
Author’s Note: Part 2 continues with the namesake city! In addition, I might make some extra crunch bits soon too. Needless to say, I’m having tons of fun with this.
The monthly market at Granite Well Station’s market is rich with life as it always is. Amateur crafters alongside trade professionals, artisans both local and well out of region, even a few arcanists willing to share a secret or two. Among the oddest is that “metal head” fellow who just showed up at the last minute. He calls himself “Zam’dul”, sounds like some really far eastern name. Either way, he has a haul of junk to investigate. It’s all pretty odd stuff, I have a feeling he’s making dirty money on pick-pocketed goods, but that’s just me. – Constable Taranath Glistendawn, long time officer of Granite Well; a town known for its eponymous well, where an evil creature was thwarted decades ago.
The Granite Well Station sports a diverse rummage sale and market at the start of the month. As far as flea markets go, Zam’dul is no stranger to this. While a somewhat dusty, but sprawling city space; it already sports a diverse array of fascinating vendors to choose from. To compete, Zam’dul only brings the most fascinating odds and ends from around the world. As always, he promises quite the show!
Author’s Note: Zam’dul travels to a city anew! Since I’ve been doing a fair share of player options as well as monsters, why not items as well? Like before, they have a gothic, victorian, western, dime novel or relate theme to them. In addition, I wanted to add some more gun augmentations.
Time for an upgrade!
The art of the shootist has transcended beyond certain types of warriors and scoundrels, expanding to even holy warriors, devoted protectors of spiritual ways or even magic-users themselves!
Author’s Note: I meant to do this long ago! However, monsters took over much of my gaslamp/weird western thing. So, let’s not delay this any longer! Here are more ranged (guns) sub-class options for your games! Also, this time an homage to The Dark Tower. Also, special thanks to my friend, Ian. Your insight really helped shape things here, and your endurance allowed you to deal with my endless rambling. Trying to hammer sub-classses based off a meta concept like ranged weapon combat proved to be a challenge for me… especially in regards to classes that weren’t quite meant for them. As such, this might be a little more janky than some of my other creations. I’ll try to refine whatever I can here.
The Order always prepares for adventure!
The Order of the Shootist, it’s a name claimed in both fear and mystery. They arrive with their incredible weaponry, unleashing thunder claps and smoke. And in mere instants, their enemies drop dead from incredible blasts of metal and fire. Only warriors worthy of their cause are admitted into their ranks. People know plenty about the mythical “fire brands”, as they have for countless years. However, most people are barely proficient. Even more fail to use them properly to begin with! The Shootist rises above these average folk. They hold sacred knowledge about not only wielding a gun with finesse, but a myriad of skills to truly champion their weapons.
For a Knight of the Shootist Order, there are many key features. One must move with a certain panache. Not only must they be graceful with their guns, but their steps must be constantly fluid. One slip up and you are shot down. A shootist has little time to stop and study their enemy, but must make a quick observation on the go. In addition, you won’t see armor worn as often within their ranks. Only truly strong and brisk warriors sport the arms and speed of a gunslinger with the armory of your traditional knight. Such individuals command both respect and a charismatic presence all their own. Some take to the shadows to get in the most brutal surprising shot possible, unleashing a devastating barrage.
Author’s Note: Lots of folks have asked a long time to revisit my shootist post. And since my theme for this month is Gaslamp Fantasy and Weird West, it was the perfect opportunity. So, let’s not just revisit the Shootist, but have a list of new options for the Rogue! Both of these were made with my own take on firearms, which is similar enough to 5e core. Don’t worry, there’s no misfire included. Take aim and fire, here’s a shooting gallery’s worth of options! However, these can easily be repurposed into a general ranged specialist if firearms are not allowed in your games or not common enough to allow training in.
I had more beyond what I posted! Here’s part 2, containing armor and misc. items! So, let’s travel back into the strange, very chrome future and puruse some equally odd items from a truly alien era! Enjoy!
Once again, you find yourself in a familiar store. However, everything looks chrome… very chrome. It’s sleek, it’s bright, everything looks angular. Strange lights illuminate the silver shaded corridor leading to a somewhat familiar cashier stand. Instead of the lovable traveling monk is some kind of mechanical humanoid. Components grind and chirp as it takes notice to you. “Designation: GREETINGS! Operation: SALES, X = Promotion, go to X. What items are you seeking today, Occupation: Adventurers?” The illuminated metal humanoid seems to be ushering you around the renovated shop. “The specialty of Location: Bizarre Bazaar is adventure equipment, mostly involving arms and armory. DISCLAIMER: Some items are inherently restricted and will require proper documentation in order to receive them. Items can be delivered to a proper base of operations, if need be. Do any Ocupation: Adventurers have any inquiries?”
Author’s Note: Time marches on, even for Zam’Dul! I’m back doing one of my favorite segments. This time, I’m doing a much needed update to tech items and magitech! Here is an assortment of techno items from past and present! Also, these operate similarly to enchanted magical items and contain similar properties as a result. Keep a look out for scattered pop culture references… which are revealed in the tags. Also, this is one of my longer ones!
