Forgotten Lands & Dark Seas
“Of course, I have more notes. It’s the least I can do for your glorious donations to our information treasury. Of course, these are copies. The originals reside with my master, or at least his own private resources. Enjoy what I have to offer and don’t hesitate to ask questions. But, be careful what you ask.” The scribe continues to pour through his acquisitions, before giving a satisfied nod and granting you access to another set of information. “This begs the question, since you’ve done so much for our fair liege, surely you have shown interest in recruitment? He has sensed the future and knows one thing for certain… Doom awaits. Only his land and his hand can protect you. But first, the Blighted city must be dealt with. This “Death” is only an obstacle for greater victory.”
Author’s Note: A look at more aspects of the Demiplane of Dread. I never got around to this originally, as my focus was on the journey to Darkon more than anything. Enjoy my take on some more canon domains of Ravenloft, reaching beyond the Core and into the Nocturnal Sea and Sea of Sorrows. Also, since not much fleshed out Bluetspur, I got creative! Surprise, it’s a Spelljammer inspired domain now! Also, yes, I always thought Professor Arcanus was a stupid character.

While Alza’um secludes itself in secrecy, the land is still quite populous. While the population is predominantly made of humans, gnomes, dwarves and even ratfolk; it’s still bristling with its own unique vibrancy and charm. Much like the machines that operate on clockwork, so do the denizens. Life is a chaotic schedule balanced under the facade of order. This insular technical revolution is made under the assumption that the outside world isn’t ready, but they’re more than enlightened. Whether this is truth or unaware foolishness hasn’t been determined yet. Either way, strange adventures and even stranger locals await those granted the proper access.
Author’s Note: It’s a pun! But seriously, I felt like I was leaving out a lot of goodies. At some point, I’ll want to flesh this out for say an OGL product or something, once I can get help with maps, layout and artists eventually. In the meantime, here are some underground dwellers of this outlandish city of high magical technologies. Of course, many can be repurposed for more steampunk oriented games.

They shouldn’t have existed, mistakes of nature and mistakes of humanity! These abominations were the accidents as a result of careless experiments and deadly warfare. And the result? Worse than we could have ever feared. Confused, angry, resentful, hateful! These things seek to destroy both their creators and the world around them. Much like the forces that spawned them, destruction is usually their goal. But, these creatures are no villains, but the consequences of arrogance, apathy, discrimination and violence.
Author’s Note: As a continuation of my theme, here’s a plethora of horrible mutants and mad experiments. While much of it is revisiting old monsters, there’s a good amount of new goodies to toss into your wastelands, super secret labs and other such locations.
