Coming back to form.

Well, the past month or two haven’t been too easy for me, to say the least.  Without intended, I basically went on hiatus for pretty much a month.  There’s been a lot going on.  Quite frankly, I haven’t really had my heart in the page for a little bit.  This isn’t anything against my readership really, mostly with myself.  As always, I’m looking for ways to improve.  This isn’t just for the games that I love, mind you.  Despite my frequent blinking out, as well as older pages vanishing (and sometimes mysteriously teleporting onto a semi-private Patreon workbench, like some Ravenloft domain plucked from the Material Plane), I want to come back as often as I can to create and provide all sorts of material and ideas.  I do this because of the games and the communities I love.  As always, thanks for reading.  With any luck, you will see more of me very soon.

Threshold Magazine – The Egg be Dammed

Image

Return to the dark mirror that is Returned Blackmoor!  While issues remain in more populated lands, an ancient conspiracy has been unearthed in a zone far detached from prying eyes.  The Cootsbane Dam, a derelict turned military grounds, has had rumors of weird activity and stranger trespassers.  Investigate into the dark secrets and keep them from being unleashed upon the world at large!

Author’s Note: I wrote an edition neutral adventure for Threshold Mystara.  Admittedly, this was because I didn’t know what version of the game to tackle and Threshold tends to focus more so on BECMI, which I don’t have too much exposure to (outside of reading setting information of The Known World and beyond.)  I might update things for 5E or AD&D, maybe ask for a hand with BECMI for the next issue.

Patreon Supporter Shout Out!

I just wanted to give a shout out to Natalie, Carolyn, Aaron and Kurt! In addition, a thanks to marvl101, whose been a long time fan on WordPress as well as collaborator with a variety of awesome ideas.

For anyone else interested in supporting the site, you can donate a dollar a month to Patreon to see posts early or donate more to see some exclusive projects I’m working on!

Holly Jolly Holdup

So, despite my regular updates, things haven’t been going pretty well.  I’ll be open with my readers.  I’ve been less than well.  My leg pain has gotten severe and alarming, I’ve had several stress related incidents and I’ve even been to the hospital in the previous week.  This has been a rather hard year for me, but I want to stay dedicated and devoted to this fun little page.  This time of year has always been rough on me, whether from work or personal issues.

Who knows?  I might soon polish some more works to put into equally (if not more so) awesome projects sooner rather than later.  But, for the time being, I need to focus on recover, especially as holiday-time retail proves particularly abusive.  I’ll try to update my patreon too, including formatted PDFs of some of my posts.  Plus, I might alter how my Patreon page works too.  But, recovery comes first, as I’ve said.  This week might very well have to wait.  None the less, I wanted to be honest with my followers.

Doc’s (back) on Patreon!

So, about two years ago, I tried to boot up an account and I didn’t really know what to do with it.  In short, I ultimately took it down.  However, it’s time to bring it back up.  I’m hoping this provides a great way to help revise my old content, preview new stuff and help to improve my work along the way; all while providing my viewers with awesome things worth coming back to.  As always, stay tuned!

Accursed Vampire Swashbucklers!

It’s talk like a Pirate Day and here I find myself fending off seaworthy undead!  The process has left me a bit drained.  But seriously, I hate constantly making these posts, but at the same time I want to keep everyone in the loop.  I’ve been exhausted from work, a lot of personal stress has gotten me down, among other things.  I’m not completely sure that my current post (Evard) will reach too much of an audience, granted this is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.  It’s also a conversion document, which might be a fair bit more niche… even more so, since it was a somewhat obscure module meant for organized play MAAAAAAANY years ago.  Needless to say, I’ll push myself to create something, probably for next week.  Whether it’s another DM’s Guild update or some more fearsome creatures of the realms of the Gothic, I’m not sure yet.  Heck, I might try to toss up something tonight or tomorrow!  We’ll see!  But first, I need a moment to recoup from the challenges of both the otherworld and the real world.

On another note, I think I created a name for an adventure or a monster post!  Even in my fatigued state, I still have tons of crazy ideas!

CHANGE OF PLANS!

Due to a recent announcement, my Gaslamp/Gothic/Weird Western theme is temporarily semi-suspended.  I plan on releasing a mixture of more monsters as well as some player options, (possible) alternate rules and magical items.  I’ll release what I have in a few days before this train goes from steam to lightning.  That’s right, Eberron content!  Also, I say semi-suspended because Eberron kinda channels that gaslamp setting sensibility in a few ways.
