Monsters of Eberron – Warforged NPCs (and New Monster)

Warforged

While countless warforged had been left to slowly rot in the endless wastelands known as “The Mournlands”, others have traveled far and wide to seek a greater purpose.  Perhaps they’ve tried to integrate into a society that views them as artificial monsters, or perhaps they act as agents for the dreaded Lord of Blades himself!

Here are some Warforged NPCs created through the Unearthed Arcana: Eberron packet and various NPCs/Monsters from the Monster Manual.


Last War Veteran

Medium humanoid (warforged), any alignment; usually lawful

Armor Class 18 (splint + composite plating)

Hit Points 58 (9d8 + 18)

Speed 30ft.

STR 17 (+3) DEX 13 (+1) CON 15 (+2) INT 10 (+0) WIS 11 (+0) CHA 10 (+0)

Skills Athletics +5, Perception +2

Senses passive Perception 12

Languages Common, Giant

Challenge 4 (1000 XP)

Living Construct. Even though the warforged was constructed, it is a living creature. The warforged are immune to disease. The warforged do not need to eat or breathe, but can ingest food and drink if they wish. Instead of sleeping, they enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. They do not dream in this state; they are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

Martial Adept. You gain two maneuvers from the Battle Master (Parry, Riposte). DC is 13 for saves. You gain 1 Superiority die (d6) for maneuvers, recharges on short/long rest.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The veteran makes two longsword attacks. If it has a shortsword drawn, it can also make a shortsword attack.

Longsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft. , one target. Hit: 7 (1d8 + 3) s lashing damage, or 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage if used with two hands.

Shortsword. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 6 (1d6 + 3) piercing damage.

Heavy Crossbow. Ranged Weapon Attack: +3 to hit, range 100/400 ft. , one target. Hit: 5 (1d10) piercing damage.

Cultist of the Lord of Blades

Medium humanoid (warforged), lawful evil

Armor Class 17 (chain mail armor + composite plating)

Hit Points 33 (6d8 + 6)

Speed 30ft.

STR 14 (+2) DEX 12 (+1) CON 13 (+1) INT 10 (+0) WIS 14 (+2) CHA 14 (+2)

Skills Deception +4, Persuasion +4, Religion +2

Challenge 3 (700 XP)

The warforged do not need to eat or breathe, but can ingest food and drink if they wish. Instead of sleeping, they enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. They do not dream in this state; they are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

Dark Devotion. The Cultist of the LoB has advantage on saving throws against being charmed or frightened.

War Priest. You may use a bonus action to attack again as many times as your wisdom modifier (2) before taking a long rest.

Spellcasting. The Cultist of the LoB is a 4th-level spellcaster. Its spell casting ability is Wisdom (spell save DC 12, +4 to hit with spell attacks). The Cultist of the LoB has the following cleric spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will) : mending, sacred flame, thaumaturgy

1st level (4 slots): command, divine favor, inflict wounds, shield of faith

2nd level (3 slots): hold person, magic weapon, spiritual weapon

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The Cultist of the LoB makes two melee attacks.

Dagger. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one creature. Hit: 4 (1d4 + 2) piercing damage.

Maul. Melee Weapon Attack: +4 to hit, reach 5 ft., one creature. Hit: 2d6+2 bludgeoning damage.

Self-Reliant Artificer

Medium humanoid (warforged), lawful neutral

Armor Class 14 (16 with mage armor) (leather armor + composite plating)

Hit Points 99 (18d8 + 18)

Speed 30ft.

STR 10 (+0) DEX 14 (+2) CON 12 (+1) INT 20 (+5) WIS 15 (+2) CHA 16 (+3)

Saving Throws lnt +9, Wis +6

Skills Arcana +13, History +13

Damage Resistance damage from spells; non magical bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing (from stoneskin)

Senses passive Perception 12

Languages Common, Dwarven, Elven, Giant, Gnome, Halfling, Orcish

Challenge 13 (10,000 XP)

The warforged do not need to eat or breathe, but can ingest food and drink if they wish. Instead of sleeping, they enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. They do not dream in this state; they are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

Magic Resistance. The artificer has advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Infusion. You gain access to the infuse abilities of the artificer (found in UA: Eberron)

Superior Artificer. When you use an infusion ability, you may create/affect another item as per the rules of Superior Artificer (found in UA: Eberron)

Spellcasting. The artificer is an 18th-level spellcaster. Its spellcasting ability is Intelligence (spell save DC 17, +9 to hit with spell attacks). The arch mage can cast disguise self and invisibility at will and has the following wizard spells prepared:

Cantrips (at will):. light, mending, mage hand, prestidigitation, shocking grasp

1st level (4 slots): detect magic, mage armor*, magic missile, repair construct**

2nd level (3 slots): detect thoughts, heat metal, misty step

3rd level (3 slots): counter spell, fly, lightning bolt

4th level (3 slots): fabricate, polymorph, stoneskin*

5th level (3 slots): animate objects, creation, seeming

6th level .(1 slot): globe of invulnerability

7th level (l slot): simulacrum

8th level (l slot): mind blank*

9th level (l slot): time stop

*The artificer casts these spells on itself before combat.

** Works like Cure Wounds but only heals constructs

ACTIONS

Dagger. Melee or Ranged Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5 ft. or range 20/60 ft., one target. Hit: 4 (ld4 + 2) piercing damage.

Warforged Titan

Huge humanoid (warforged), neutral

Armor Class 16 (natural/composite)

Hit Points 172 (15d12 + 75)

Speed 40 ft.

STR 21 (+5) DEX 12 (+1) CON 20 (+5) INT 7 (-2) WIS 11 (+0) CHA 6 (- 2)

Skills Perception +6

Damage Resistances. bludgeoning/piercing/slashing damage from any non – adamantine weapon, acid, cold, fire, thunder damage

Senses darkvision 60ft ., passive Perception 16

Languages Common, Giant, Dwarven

Challenge 10 (5,000 XP)

Living Construct. Even though the warforged was constructed, it is a living creature. The warforged are immune to disease. The warforged do not need to eat or breathe, but can ingest food and drink if they wish. Instead of sleeping, they enter an inactive state for 4 hours each day. They do not dream in this state; they are fully aware of your surroundings and notice approaching enemies and other events as normal.

Rage. Like the barbarian ability, the Titan may enter a rage as a bonus action. The titan gains the following while in rage: advantage on all strength based checks, saving throws, and attacks, a +2 bonus on damage, and resistance to bludgeoning/piercing/slashing damage from any source. The rage lasts for 1 minute and can be stopped early if the Titan does not attack/receive damage in one round or falls unconscious/is killed. The titan can use this ability 4 times per long rest.

Reinforced Legs. The Titan gains advantage on strength (athletics) and dexterity (acrobatics) for any checks involving jumping or climbing.

ACTIONS

Multiattack. The titan can make up to 3 melee attacks.

Needle Hand. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10ft., one target. Hit: 10 (2d4 + 5) piercing damage.

War Axe. Melee Weapon Attack: +8 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d6+5 slashing damage.
